My story is one of movement and above all... love for music. As a son of Palestinian refugees, I was born and raised in the beautiful old city of Damascus. I have always been passionate about music. At the age of 16, I joined the school band. Without any experience, I started playing the snare drum, and later the trumpet and trombone.
As much as I liked that, it was incomparable to what happened when I first played on a saxophone. I was mesmerized! A good friend gave me three lessons, and after this, I figured it out myself. I couldn't stop myself from listening to music, especially the songs performed by Fausto Papetti, and then trying to play them myself.
In 1996, I became a professional musician, performing mainly in hotels and restaurants during private (VIP) events, weddings and dinner parties. I have played many joyful years in The Carlton Hotel, Four Seasons Hotel and Art House in Damascus.
In 2013, the war in Syria forced me to flee. I ended up in Bangkok with my wife and three children. The UNHCR made a YouTube clip about our family for #WorldRefugeeDay 2015. After two and a half years, we had the chance to go to the Netherlands. We live in Boven-Leeuwen, Maas en Waal. A new start for my family and me. I am learning the Dutch language, and I'm trying to settle in. I want to make new friends, and new music!
